Neither the bad weather nor the lack of lights stopped the Destin High Sharks from beating North Bay Haven Bucs by a score of 28-21 on Thursday night at the football field at Destin Middle School, giving them the first ever football victory of the season.
With the bleachers packed and the Shark band playing, the Destin Sharks got the ball first and didn’t waste any time getting on board. The Shark attack was well balanced, with 136 yards on the ground and 141 through the air. Avery Zierden had 10 carries for 59 yards. Freshman quarterback Jordan Figueroa completed 12 of 18 passes for 141 yards and had one interception.
Sonny Taylor had six carries for 47 yards and two touchdowns, giving the Destin Sharks a win over North Bay Haven. The PAT was good and Destin led 28-21 which made the home crowd and sidelines go wild.
Congratulations to our Sharks! We’re so proud of you! Cheers to your future victories! GO SHARKS!
