Lady Shark Softball got underway on 24 February Vs. Baker High School. Although the Lady Sharks fell to Baker 18-0, there were many highlights showcased by this squad. Team CoCaptain, Junior Anna Carroll, set the bar for the offense by recording the first hit ever for the program. Anna went 2 for 2 for the day. Also recording hits were Freshmen second baseman Abby Hodges, and Maddie Barr. Freshman, Sydney Davis, recorded the first opponent strikeout against Baker HS. Syd also had a put out to help herself get out of the inning. Other defensive standouts were Freshmen third baseman Holly Schmidt, Abby Hodges and Junior Shortstop and Co Captain, Vianni Silvestre, all came up with clutch putouts to help their pitcher get out of an inning. Olivia “Ya Ya” McCalin was the defensive stalwart with numerous blocked balls and overall leadership behind the plate. Although it was not the results we wanted, the coaches saw a competitive group of young ladies fighting every pitch. They are always winners in the coaches eyes. Clear eyes, full heart… Can’t Lose!
