Ryan grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota, and participated in a variety of sports, including, soccer, baseball, karate, football, varsity wrestling, and varsity track as a pole vaulter. However, gymnastics was always his favorite sport. He started at age 4 and continued through his senior year of high school, competing for 10 years. Ryan reached the highest level of Class 1 as a junior athlete and qualified for the Junior Olympic Nationals twice. He was also honored as an Academic All American. Following high school, Ryan attended the University of Florida where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a major in Marketing and a Master’s Degree in International Business. At UF, he had the opportunity to take a Coaching Gymnastics class and serve as a Teaching Assistant for a Gymnastics class offered by the Sport and Fitness department. Following graduation, Ryan moved to Niceville, FL, and held full-time jobs in marketing and customer service while working part-time as a coach, but soon realized his true passion was coaching and working with youth athletes.
